Your First Visit
Welcome! We are so glad you are planning to visit Our Lady of Fatima Chapel. If this is your first traditional Latin Mass, here are a few simple things to help you feel at home.
Arriving and Parking
Sunday Mass is at 1:30 PM at 209 Peach St, Sanger, TX 76266. Seating can be limited, so we encourage you to arrive at least fifteen minutes early.
Coming from Denton? Take I-35 north about 10 miles to Sanger. The chapel is at 209 Peach St (3rd & Peach); see the parking map below.
- Confessions are generally heard an hour before Mass, beginning at 12:30 PM.
- The Rosary is typically said 30 minutes before Mass, at about 1:00 PM.
Most people park along the curbs around the chapel block: on Peach St in front of the chapel, on N 3rd St to the west, and on N 2nd St to the east.
If parking on a residential street, please be careful not to block the driveway of any house.
During Mass
The Mass is offered in Latin. Please don't worry about following every word; it is perfectly fine to simply watch and pray.
- If you would like to follow along, little red Latin-English missal booklets are available for you to use. You will find them in the missal and hymnal holders in the pews.
- If the chapel is full, overflow seating is available in the parish hall, just east of the chapel; most people get there by the outside sidewalk. The view of the altar is limited there, but a camera and TV let you follow the Mass.
What to Wear
Modest dress is expected in church, as a sign of reverence for the sacred liturgy. Here is a simple guide.
For ladies
- In keeping with the apostolic custom of the Church, as taught by St. Paul (1 Cor. 11), women are asked to cover their heads in church, with a hat or a chapel veil. If you don't have one, chapel veils are available at the back of the church.
- Dresses or skirts should be of modest length, falling below the knee.
- Dresses should have modest necklines and sleeves, and should not be tight-fitting.
- Slacks, trousers, and similar garments are not appropriate for ladies in church, as they do not reflect the traditional Christian standards of modesty and feminine dress.
For gentlemen
- Men should dress in a way that reflects reverence for the sacred liturgy. A coat and tie are most fitting for Mass; at minimum, attire should be neat, modest, and respectful.
- Please remove hats and other headwear in church.
- Casual clothing such as jeans, t-shirts, shorts, or athletic wear is not appropriate for church.
Good to Know
- Restrooms: the parish hall (just east of the chapel) has two, and the cry room at the chapel entrance has one.
- Cry room: located at the entrance of the chapel, if you need to step out with a little one.
- Chapel veils: available at the back of the church.
Visit Our Bookstore
Before or after Mass, stop by our well-stocked bookstore for books, religious artwork, devotional items, and calendars. You'll find it in the building just behind the parish hall, and it is open whenever the church is open.
The bookstore runs on the honor system, so no one staffs it. You can pay with cash, or by card using the QR code at the bookstore or through the chapel's Tithe.ly donation page by selecting "Bookstore".
Have a question before you come? We are happy to help. Please call the chapel at (940) 597-5494 or speak with the pastor.
